As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on across the globe, the airline industry continues to be the most devastated sector thus far, with a high number of travel bans in place internationally and flight cancellations being more common than scheduled departures. With the apex of the coronavirus crisis not expected to hit in the U.S. for another 14-21 days, according to the CDC, the airline and airport industries will only continue to suffer. It's still soon to tell what the COVID-19 pandemic has in store for the global airline sector, but a new ranking from InsureMyTrip.com compiles the site's latest airport rankings for flight cancellations for 2019. The rankings were based on the flight cancellation rate per airport, based on data from InsureMyTrip and The U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). BTS tracks the on-time performance of domestic flights operated by large air carriers.
