American International Group has added two new members to its executive committee: John Doyle, CEO of its Property Casualty Global Commercial Insurance unit; and Sid Sankaran, the company's chief risk officer.
AIG CEO and President Robert Benmosche announced the appointments, stating, “John and Sid are proven leaders, and their appointments reflect the importance of their roles to the future of AIG and their individual contributions.”
Benmosche says that over the years, the “Executive Group and the AIG board have come to rely on Sid and John for their expert guidance and keen insights.”
Doyle is responsible for AIG's commercial property and casualty businesses worldwide.
Previously, he served as president and CEO of Chartis U.S., responsible for the company's property casualty and private client businesses in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president of AIG's Property Casualty Group, and president and CEO of AIG Commercial Insurance.
He joined AIG in 1986.
Sankaran joined AIG in 2010 as chief risk officer. As such, he is responsible for setting AIG's global corporate strategy for risk management – managing risks proactively to increase profitability, and helping to protect AIG's reputation, earnings and value.
He has spent his career working with financial services companies, including a number of insurers, on risk management issues.
Prior to joining AIG, Sankaran was a partner in the Finance and Risk practice at Oliver Wyman Financial Services.
Other members of the executive committee are Mike Cowan, chief administrative officer; Bill Dooley, head of investments; Peter Hancock, CEO of AIG Property Casualty; David Herzog, CFO; Jeff Hurd, head of human resources and communications; Tom Russo, general counsel; Jay Wintrob, CEO of AIG Life and Retirement; and Benmosche.
