California insurance adjuster Jacinto Antonio Barrientos pleaded guilty to conspiracy and fraud in the theft of nearly $50,000 from Unitrin Insurance Company. Lisa Ann Hiersekorn, who was also involved in the fraud scam, pleaded no contest to conspiracy and insurance fraud.

California Deputy District Attorney Loren Naiman said Barrientos added Hiersekorn's name to claims and split the checks with her when they came in. The defendants were charged in mid-May and each has remained in custody since their arrests.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Naiman said the crimes occurred between June 2005 and July 2006 and the case was investigated by the California Department of Insurance.
