Two Kansas men, Louis Stevens and Francis Fredette, attempted to burglarize a Mobil convenience store and are now facing fraud charges.

According to the Wichita Eagle, prosecutors say the two tried to break into the store in Nov. 2000, when Fredette fell off the roof, seriously injuring his back. Immediately after the fall, the two drove 40 miles to Fredette's apartment and allegedly placed him at the bottom of an outdoor staircase to make it look as if that was where the fall took place.

The article states that Fredette won a $700,000 insurance settlement over the fall after filing suit against his landlord and the owners of the property.
