Admiral Insurance Company is warning drivers not to lie to them in order to receive a more reasonable quote. According to research by the Motor Insurance Bureau, an estimated 10 percent of motorists lie to their insurance companies when seeking a cheaper auto insurance quote.
A release by the Admiral Group reported that withholding previous claims on accidents ranks near the top of the list of most common ways that people lie to insurers. They say potential customers must tell insurer s of any accidents or claims they have had in the previous three years, even if the claim is settled or wasn't your fault. To not do so constitutes insurance premium fraud.
Admiral's Managing Director, Sue Longthorn said in a release, “Some people think that by telling a small lie they can get a cheaper quote. In reality they are committing fraud. An insurance policy is a legal contract so its vital that you are honest, or that contract can be claimed invalid and cancelled.”
