On March 26, 2024, a container ship known as the Dali, which was registered in Singapore, lost propulsion and struck one of the support pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.
The bridge, which relied on truss construction, immediately collapsed into the Patapsco River. There were eight construction workers on the bridge at the time; six of them died.
