As 2024 comes to a close, the insurance industry too often sees itself in headlines for the wrong reasons: coverage disputes, lawsuits, rate increases, geographic pullbacks and more.

But working insurance professionals recognize that the business is more complex and service-oriented than it is often portrayed. Among the thousands of insurance companies and hundreds-of-thousands of insurance personnel are good people and organizations working steadfastly to make policyholders whole after a loss; to fulfill the promise and the mission of the insurance product.

Service also comes to mind when surveying the many insurance-shopping comparison tools, awards and rankings. Sure, many are generated as part of another business model. But insurance-news organizations, blogs and shopping aggregators also comprise an important source of information for consumers in need of the kind of protection that only insurance can provide. These are the places where consumers can find more detailed information about insurance operations, services and costs.
