The number of customers who are bundling their home and auto insurance policies with the same carrier has declined significantly in 2024, J.D. Power reports. This is driven, in part, by the number of insureds who plan to change their auto insurance carrier without changing their homeowners policy. Overall, 21% of customers say they "definitely will" also switch their home insurance if they change their auto policy, which is down from 24% who said the same in 2024. Still, with rising prices across the board for auto and home policies, many still choose to seek out an insurer where they can keep their policies together and reap the benefit of multi-policy discounts. For those who want to find ways to lower their auto premiums but are unwilling or unable to keep multiple lines with the same insurer, there are other discounts worth seeking. These include multi-car discounts, vehicle safety discounts, anti-theft device discounts, good driver discounts, pay-in-full discounts and more. Customers may also be able to find insurers that offer occupational discounts – like for those in the military or educators. Forbes Advisor also recommends insureds check their alumni associations or professional organizations to see if insurance discounts are offered, or that they consider participating in usage-based insurance programs to lower their premiums. In the slideshow above, we'll look at the ten insurers Forbes Advisor determined have the best discounts on auto premiums for customers who bundle their home and auto policies.
