Three out of four American adults plan to hit the road this summer, according to a new survey from WalletHub.

Despite economic downturn and an average gas price at just over $3.50 per gallon, the study showed 33% from the survey will travel more than 250 miles from home.

"Taking a summer road trip can be a very exciting way to experience a new place, but with the prices of gas, food and accommodations heavily impacted by inflation, you'll want to be in a state that makes this type of vacation affordable," WalletHub Analyst Cassandra Happe said in the report.
