Three out of four American adults plan to hit the road this summer, according to a new survey from WalletHub. Despite economic downturn and an average gas price at just over $3.50 per gallon, the study showed 33% from the survey will travel more than 250 miles from home. "Taking a summer road trip can be a very exciting way to experience a new place, but with the prices of gas, food and accommodations heavily impacted by inflation, you'll want to be in a state that makes this type of vacation affordable," WalletHub Analyst Cassandra Happe said in the report. "Safe roads are also key, and so is having plenty of worthwhile attractions to stop at along the road," she added. "The best states for summer road trips therefore are those that keep costs low while providing the best driving experience and most fun activities." In addition to the destinations outlined in the slideshow above, Louisiana and Florida round out the top five states for summer travel, according to WalletHub. Related: |
