Road rage is a common driving behavior that ranges from angry hand gestures to ramming into a vehicle. These actions are costly and sometimes fatal, with about 601 incidents of gun violence involving road rage each year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Drivers caught in the midst of road rage may be cited for reckless driving, which could increase their auto insurance premium up to 51%, according to an Insurify survey. Insurify surveyed more than 1,000 drivers in the United States and weighed their responses against road rage statistics from the National Safety Council and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They found over half (58%) of respondents reported road rage behaviors, but only 41% admitted to having road rage sometimes. U.S. drivers were more likely to point out signs of road rage than to admit they were guilty of it themselves. The slideshow above goes over the most common road rage behaviors and their prevalence among drivers. Related: |
