At the end of life, comfort and expert compassionate care should be available to everyone. Care Dimensions holds these values near as the largest hospice and palliative care provider to adults and children in Massachusetts. Providing comprehensive hospice, palliative care and grief support in more than 100 communities in Massachusetts, Care Dimensions is a community-based leader in serious illness care. Originally known as Hospice of the North Shore, Care Dimensions was founded in 1978 and today cares for hospice patients in their homes, skilled nursing and assisted living communities, hospitals, and two inpatient hospice facilities in Lincoln and Danvers, Massachusetts. Care Dimensions' HomeMD program provides in-home primary care to home-limited patients over 65 years of age in select communities north of Boston. Care Dimensions also operates the Care Dimensions Learning Institute, which educates more than 7,000 healthcare professionals and community members on end-of-life care annually. Recognizing the unique needs facing seriously ill military veterans and their families, Care Dimensions saw an opportunity to provide veterans with the much-needed support and recognition they deserve and too often do not receive. Last year, volunteers from The Andover Companies gathered in our Danvers, Massachusetts office to assemble 125 gift bags for veterans on our hospice service during the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation's (IICF) annual Week of Giving. The package contained a handmade patriotic blanket, a coffee mug, a memorial embroidered star from a retired U.S. flag and a thank-you letter from Care Dimensions. Additionally, volunteers put together 50 gift bags with donated socks and fleece blankets for homeless veterans in several communities north of Boston. This year, Care Dimensions will once again welcome the kindness of The Andover Companies to honor and support U.S. veterans in recognition of IICF's annual Week of Giving. We are honored to have The Andover Companies join us to show appreciation for those who have served by assembling care bags that will be given to our treasured veteran hospice patients around Veterans Day. We are extremely grateful for the support of IICF as we perpetuate our mission to enrich the quality of life for those affected by life-limiting illness, death and loss. Veterans do not always receive proper recognition for their service and these small tokens of kindness go a long way in their comfort and care. As this year's IICF annual Week of Giving approaches, join us in support of those living with life-limiting illness and their families.
