The most popular U.S. city for renting a home as summer 2023 transitioned to fall is known for its quaint Colonial monuments, picturesque views of the Potomac River and close proximity to the nation's capital — with all its government, nonprofit and cultural institutions. In general, the most popular places to rent in the U.S. tend to have abundant rentals available along with a copacetic mix of amenities, job opportunities and schools. They also tend to be medium-sized to smaller municipalities, which some argue are more friendly and accessible, but often have easy access to the country's major metropolitan areas. The slideshow above illustrates the 10 most popular U.S. cities for renting a home in September 2023, according to rentcafe.com. The site arrived at its list of desirable rental locations by looking at how often potential renters research the city and save it to their favorites. "America's heartland is September's most sought-after region by renters," rentcafe.com reports. "The Midwest's more affordable, settled, yet vibrant lifestyle attracted renters' interest."
