The claims industry workforce is ever-evolving, especially after the COVID pandemic drove many to reevaluate their careers, or even retire earlier than originally planned. The annual Claims Salary Survey, conducted by ALM Intelligence, a division of Claims’ parent company, ALM, collects data that puts a finger on the pulse of where the claims industry stands today.

The survey helps identify common benefits offered, pain points, salary ranges, how much time claims professionals put into their work and how they view the future of the industry. These are valuable insights for readers of both Claims magazine and PropertyCasualty360.com.

The 2022 Claims Salary Survey found that while about a third of respondents had 20 years or less experience in the claims industry, 54% had up to 30 years of experience and 14% had more than 35 years in the field. Slightly fewer of those professionals plan to retire within the next five years – down from 28% in 2021 to 23% in 2022. The largest number of professionals (28%) said they anticipate retirement in 6-10 years, and 28% expect to work for at least 15 more years.

The 2023 Claims Salary Survey is open to independent and company adjusters, and claims-related personnel through Friday, Sept. 29, and can be found here.

Results of the survey will appear in the November/December issue of Claims Magazine.
