How much do claims professionals make?
The annual Claims Salary Survey takes the pulse of the claims industry across the spectrum.
For more than two decades, Claims magazine has tracked the evolution of the insurance claims industry. The annual Claims Salary Survey examines more than just what independent and company adjusters make in a given year. It looks at benefits, hours worked, how insurance companies manage their claims, how long adjusters have worked in the industry, their retirement plans, how many hours they work in a week, how they view the adjusting profession, pain points, prognostications, and much more.
The salary survey is open from September 1 through September 29, and claims professionals can access the salary here. It will also be emailed to insurance professionals over the next few weeks.
In 2018, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that there were 206,090 claims adjusters, examiners and investigators; 230,470 insurance claims and policy processing clerks; 375,720 sales agents; 59,960 first-line supervisors and managers; and 84,540 underwriters in the insurance industry. At that time, the average annual salary was $67,060 or around $32.24 per hour.
The coronavirus changed how claims professionals operated for several years, but as the world returns to some semblance of normalcy, we want to know how companies are operating now, how claims levels and technology have changed, and the career outlook for new professionals.
The results of the survey will be published in the November/December 2023 issue of Claims magazine.
