Millions of people worldwide fancy themselves outdoor recreation enthusiasts, especially when temperatures soar and vacation calendars swell with planned summertime activities. Roughly 55% of people in the U.S. ages 6 and up now enjoying alfresco recreation, according to the Outdoor Industry Association. Its recent annual report indicated that outdoor enthusiasts are becoming more diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, age and gender identity. But it's hard to unwind when nagging worries linger in the back of one's mind. That can happen when individuals realize that perhaps they should have reached out to their insurance agent or broker in advance of a big summer trip. The slideshow above illustrates some of summer's most popular activities along with the insurance concerns that come along with them, according to the consumer education and comparison-shopping website VIU by Hub. The website points out that summertime insurance claims often result from such activities and events as camp fires, swimming, boating and burglaries. "It's important to note that the specific types and amount of insurance coverage you need will depend on a variety of factors," reports VIU by Hub. "Your best course of action is to talk to your insurance company… about your specific summer plans and any new equipment or toys you might want insured to be certain that you have the coverage you need this summer."
