Embedded travel insurance has become a popular option for those wanting to protect themselves while on vacation, and according to a recent study from Personal Financial Insider, 55% of insured travelers purchased their policy through a travel provider. Only 17% said they purchased it through a travel agent and 13% got their coverage from an insurance marketplace. Around 38% of the 971 adults they surveyed in the U.S. said they had purchased insurance for a trip. Of those travelers, 35% bought coverage because they were concerned about the provider they booked with and 29% were worried about experiencing health issues while away from home. The cost of travel insurance policies varies depending on the cost and destination of the trip, as well as the age of the person traveling, but Insider found the average price for a $2,000 trip was between $80 and $160. Despite this added cost, 68% of those surveyed said they are willing to pay the same amount for travel coverage for future trips. Cruise vacations come with a unique set of risks – like inclement weather, the possibility of getting sick and being confined to your cabin and missed port departures – which means there's more to keep in mind when shopping for coverage for your adventure at sea. In the slideshow above, we'll look at tips from TravelInsurance.com to help you find cruise coverage that's worth its salt.
