Some people consider these days immediately following Halloween to be the unofficial start of the winter holiday season. Retailers, of course, do their part to further this notion as days before trick or treating begins, they begin to transition their orange and black seasonal sections to red and green.
To me, the best thing about the winter holidays to come won't be the parties or the gifts or even the festive food and drink. These are all lovely, but my favorite thing about the stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is the chance to rest, reflect, recharge and renew.
