IICF launches Hurricane Ian relief fund
In a complementary campaign, IICF Southeast is hosting a Fill the Truck food drive through November 10, 2022.
As Americans caught in Hurricane Ian’s destructive path continue to persevere through the devastation, the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) is hoping to help the afflicted communities by launching the IICF Hurricane Ian Relief Fund. IICF has set up a special webpage to collect donations.
The funds raised will go to the SW FL Emergency Relief Fund and Team Rubicon, a nonprofit providing emergency response and relief efforts throughout the areas impacted by Hurricane Ian, IICF reported.
“As tens of thousands of Floridians struggle to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Ian, we as an industry are moved to support those impacted through charitable giving,” Bill Ross, CEO of IICF, said in a release. “The insurance industry is rooted in helping others at their time of need, and through the IICF Hurricane Ian Relief Fund, we can band together to do even more — to provide much needed donated assistance and supplies to our communities.”
Further, IICF Southeast is hosting a Fill the Truck food drive to aid hunger relief efforts in Florida. Money and items donated to the drive will be given to Hope Helps food pantry. Monetary donations can be made here, while items can be purchased through the food pantry’s Amazon wish list. The food drive will run through November 10, 2022.
During the past few years, IICF has raised $2.3 million to aid nonprofits working in direct response to disasters and pandemic relief in the U.S. and U.K., the organization reported.
Hurricane Ian, which hit Florida as a Category 4 storm, is expected to cause $41 billion-$71 billion in damages, according to CoreLogic’s final estimate, which includes wind losses, insured and uninsured storm surge losses, and inland flood loss for residential and commercial properties.
