Just as insurtech as a general term refers to technology solutions that enhance efficiency, the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association’s 2023 Insurtech Conference will deliver better and more efficient solutions for attendees.

The conference has continually evolved and is becoming a one-stop for education, solutions and networking. The 2023 conference is April 2-5 in Nashville, and the WSIA Insurtech Committee anticipates record attendance.

Organizers say the 2023 event will look familiar to past attendees and exhibitors, but it will be an updated experience. WSIA Insurtech Committee Chair Shannon Dahlke, who also is senior vice president of MHI, an Amwins Company, said the 2023 event will reflect feedback from past attendees and exhibitors, who expressed interest in more dedicated time with exhibitors and schedule changes to allow more time for private meetings as well.

“The basic structure of the conference will remain unchanged because it works so well to marry education with exhibitors,” Dahlke said. “However, we know that attendees want to interact outside of structured sessions and exhibitor tours also. This is the only WSIA event that also welcomes non-member attendees, so it’s an opportunity for those registrants to learn more about the industry, information share and engage with the association.”

Many of WSIA’s Insurtech Conference exhibitors come with technology solutions that are specific to the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. WSIA Meeting & Events Manager Chelsea Lenhart said the opportunity for attendees to meet with them, share specific needs, see demonstrations, and hear about their services and products is one of the draws of the conference.

“A lot of professionals in our industry wear multiple hats on our teams and having our peers and experts in one place to share ideas and best practices is a great benchmarking opportunity to ensure that you’re staying up-to-date in the digital world,” Dahlke said. “We work in the realm of emerging risks and technologies, so it makes sense for us to be proactively integrating them into our own businesses. Attending this conference is a great tool in doing that to help firms remain competitive.”

Lenhart said that while all the education sessions are technology-based, there are options for attendees at every level of expertise, ensuring that there’s valuable content for CEOs, IT professionals, underwriters, brokers and operations professionals. She said that WSIA’s Insurtech Conference isn’t designed only for technology experts and the committee works to create discussions and forums for all attendees because technology and automation impacts every part of an organization. Attendees should expect a keynote speaker and sessions on topics like cyber response, data intelligence and integrating digital platforms.

Registration for the 2023 conference will open in mid-January 2023, and a call for presenters will be available next week. Stay tuned for additional details.
