Almost every industry has had to address the loss of employees as many reevaluated their career and job choices over the last two years. Even before much of the world shut down for the pandemic, the insurance industry was facing a significant loss of claims adjusters and other professionals.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted a 6% drop from 2020-2029 in the number of adjusters in the industry, but our 2020 Claims Salary Survey found that approximately 30% of the respondents expected to retire in five years or less. By 2021, that number had dropped slightly, with 28% of respondents anticipating retirement within the next five years.

ALM Intelligence, a division of Claims’ parent company, ALM, will conduct the 2022 Claims Salary Survey. The survey helps Claims and PropertyCasualty360.com provide readers with an overview of the industry, identify pain points, assess benefits offered, hours worked, salary ranges, hours worked per week and how this important group of insurance professionals sees the future of the claims industry.

The survey is open to independent and company adjusters, and claims-related personnel. The deadline to participate in the survey is September 30th and it can be accessed here. Results of the survey will appear in the November/December issue of Claims Magazine.
