Gallagher Bassett partnering with Special Olympics on torch run
The partnership aims to help raise funds for Special Olympics athletes and volunteers.
Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. is partnering with the Special Olympics to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) and helping raise funds to finance participation, engagement and recognition opportunities for the game’s athletes and volunteers.
The risk and claims management firm’s support will include international, regional and local programs such as the 2022 USA Games LETR Final Leg, the 2022 LETR International Conference in Round Rock, Texas and the 2023 LETR International Conference in Chicago.
“Care and compassion are values we take to heart. Whether we are helping others through client services, volunteering or donating Gentle Bears to children, we go beyond,” Scott Hudson, Gallagher Bassett president, said in a release. “We are honored to support the torch run — a mission that truly aligns with our own, as dedicated and compassionate Special Olympics volunteers also go beyond, empower communities and help others thrive in the face of adversity.”
In addition to collaborating on the LETR events, Gallagher Basset will also deploy its Gentle Bear program into the activities. Donations of Gentle Bear teddy bears began more than a decade ago through a partnership with the South Australia Police department as part of a program to reduce PTSD-related injuries in children. More than 18,000 teddy bears have been provided to children around the world, according to the company.
“We are grateful to have Gallagher’s support and thrilled to amplify our Law Enforcement Torch Run events with Gallagher Bassett,” Mary Davis, CEO of Special Olympics International, said in a statement. “We are proud of our shared values which champion acceptance and inclusion and provide opportunities to demonstrate courage for athletes with intellectual disabilities in communities around the world. We look forward to having Gallagher Bassett walk with us to raise awareness around this exciting initiative.”
With more than six million athletes in over 190 countries and territories, the Special Olympics delivers more than 30 Olympic-type sports and over 100,000 games and competitions every year.
