Traffic patterns have returned near pre-pandemic levels, but remote and hybrid work arrangements have become the new normal for many, who are now finding themselves driving less often. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration reported the average American driver travels 13,476 miles per year. Most insurance companies consider those who drive fewer than 7,500 miles per year to be considered, low-mileage drivers, according to Insurify.com. And for those who are clocking fewer ticks on the odometer, auto insurance companies could provide lower rates. In addition to telematics programs, which can save drivers up to 40% on auto insurance, some policy providers are also leveraging pay-per-mile programs. The above slideshow highlights the five cheapest auto insurance companies for low-mileage drivers, according to Insurify.com research.
