The axiom "everything is bigger in Texas," apparently reigns true for the volume of drunk driving arrests as four Lone Star State cities are among the U.S. municipalities that see the most DUI arrests per capita, according to Buyautoinsurance.com, which reviewed data from a three-year period. While Texas sees a large number of annual DUIs, more recently the citizens of Canton, Ohio, have apparently been saying "don't hold my beer" more often. The Hall of Fame City saw the highest rate of drunk driving arrests in 2021, with Canton drivers being cited for drunk driving three times more often than the national average, according to Insurify.com. As of 2021, more than 5% of drivers in Canton had at least one DUI on their record. Coral Springs, Florida, and Bellevue, Washington, had the lowest rates of citywide DUI rates, Insurify reported. When it comes to drunk driving, more than 4 in 10 Americans admit to partaking in the risky endeavor, according to a Valuepeguin.com survey. Of those that admitted to drinking and driving, nearly half (48%) said they were pulled over. The most common reason cited for drinking and driving was traveling a short distance or thinking they were not impaired to the point they could not handle an automobile. The above slideshow highlights the 10 cities that see the most DUIs on average, based on data from a three-year period reviewed by Buyautoinsurance.com. Related: |
