From the hazardous toys to the chance of a Douglas fir combusting into a Yule log smoldering in a dried-out but seasonally colored stand, the holidays throw a lot of risks in an insured's way. While the season brings a host of perils, Christmas has been somewhat safer thus far, according to Valuepenuin.com. The personal finance site reported Christmas tree-related injuries are back to a pre-pandemic level after spiking in 2020. Despite the increase in tree mishaps last year, Christmastime accidents have shown declines compared with a decade prior. Additionally, the number of people being treated in an emergency room for toy-related injuries has dropped 35%, while the number of fatal crashes has fallen 18% from 2011, according to the site. "Personal liability coverage within a homeowners or renters insurance policy should cover bodily injury or property damage at home or and most auto insurance policies will cover you if you get into a car accident over Christmas," Divya Sangam, Valuepenguin.com insurance spokesperson, said in a release. The above slideshow reveals findings from a consumer survey on winter holiday risks conducted by Valuepenguin.com. Related: |
