When it comes to auto insurance, the make and model of the vehicle play a critical role in determining rates for coverage, Quotewizard.com pointed out, noting even changes in trim packages can result in different premium costs. For example, a 2019 Honda Civic has an annual insurance cost of $1,511, while the upper-echelon Honda Civic EXT has an average annual cost of $1,631, according to the insurance quote site. These rate variances are largely driven by the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). Additionally, a higher MSRP typically leads to higher repair costs during an auto insurance claim. The above slideshow highlights the 2022 makes and models with the most expensive annual insurance costs, according to Quotewizard.com, which analyzed rates for the 47 bestselling vehicles. The example costs are based on a 30-year-old male living in Seattle, Washington. The cheapest popular vehicles to insure are the Jeep Cherokee and Subaru Forester, which both have an average annual insurance cost of around $1,060.
