Save the dates for 2022 WSIA Underwriting Summit

The summit will give attendees the chance to network and conduct business in a smaller group setting than WSIA’s Annual Marketplace.

Bryan Clark, WSIA Events Committee co-chair and president of Gorst & Compass Insurances, said: “The virtual format used for our large networking meetings in 2021 worked remarkably well, given the circumstances, but it wasn’t the ideal for us to interact with one another. The 2022 WSIA Underwriting Summit is set to return as an in-person event, running  March 13-16 in Orlando, Florida, at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. The Underwriting Summit is designed to provide dedicated networking for the underwriting and delegated authority segment of the WSIA membership. It also allows the opportunity for member firm leaders to collaborate on strategic issues facing the marketplace in a more relaxed, intimate environment, with an anticipated 1,200 attendees. Registration will open January 6, 2022.

“We are obviously really pleased to be planning an on-site meeting,” said Bryan Clark, WSIA Events Committee co-chair and president of Gorst & Compass Insurance. “The virtual format used for our large networking meetings in 2021 worked remarkably well, given the circumstances, but it wasn’t the ideal for us to interact with one another. We know that members are ready to be back together. We haven’t hosted an event in Orlando in recent years, so this also represents an opportunity to use a new venue that we think is really well-suited to our meeting needs.”

The event will kick off with an opening reception on Sunday, March 13 for all attendees. On Monday, March 14, the morning will begin with opening breakfast, which will include a keynote speaker, annual business meeting and awards ceremony. The lounge and club will open on Monday immediately following the opening breakfast and will be open through Wednesday at noon for dedicated networking and business meetings.

The Underwriting Summit provides members an opportunity to network and conduct business meetings in a smaller group setting than Annual Marketplace, while also participating in the association’s annual business meeting, the election of officers and directors, and awards presentations.

“We conduct important business for the association at Underwriting Summit with the election of new directors and officers, and we honor our colleagues for their achievements. It’s great to be able to support one another at that session and this agenda ensures that all attendees can participate in that opening session,” Clark said.

Dave Obenauer, WSIA Events Committee co-chair and CEO of CRC Group, revealed that the committee has already elected a keynote speaker.

“Former NFL quarterback and four-time Super Bowl champion, Terry Bradshaw, will speak in Orlando,” he said. “The committee sought a speaker who would be entertaining and engaging, and Bradshaw brings that as well as an impressive list of achievements both on and off the football field. This will be a different tone than we’ve struck with the last couple of keynote speakers, and we think that our attendees will enjoy this opportunity.”

The WSIA Education Foundation will also host its annual golf fundraising event during Underwriting Summit. Stay tuned for more information about that opportunity to support the foundation and have fun with colleagues on the course. Look for more information about registration in the WSIA News.
