The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA) Insurtech Conference was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. In 2021, the event was held virtually, making 2022 the first opportunity for industry professionals to attend this event in person.

At its core, the WSIA Insurtech Conference is designed for wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry professionals. Sessions are varied and offer content for technology specialists, underwriters, brokers and executives. These workshops focus on such topics as how to leverage emerging technology and Insurtech trends to enhance profitability and streamline the customer experience.

“Anyone who is impacted by, has responsibility for, or the power to influence technology changes in the surplus lines industry the WSIA Insurtech Conference should attend,” says Chelsea Lenhart, education program and events manager at WSIA. “The conference is an evolving forum that encourages exploration, education, sharing and networking.”

The 2022 WSIA Insurtech Conference agenda will focus on the continued digital transformation occurring within the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. As Lenhart explains, the WSIA Insurtech Committee has prioritized session topics that highlight the how-to and value of developing a digital strategy, including artificial intelligence, APIs, data analytics, cybersecurity and other solutions designed to expand markets, streamline the distribution chain and enhance the customer experience. In addition to industry experts, collaborative panels and vendor showcases, this event also features an interactive trade show designed to increase visibility and awareness for disruptions and solutions available within the market.

“The conference has grown in scope and audience over the last few years, and it’s appropriate for anyone who works in our industry,” says Shannon Dahlke, chair, WSIA Insurtech Committee and senior vice president, MHI, an Amwins Company. “We have pushed very hard to offer a variety of sessions and content that is valuable for everyone — from technology specialists and experts to CEOs. We are all impacted by technology and the related disruptions, in various ways. It’s really important that we all, as industry professionals, understand how to leverage it to our benefit.”

Attendees in 2022 can expect a robust slate of speakers and exhibitors. The committee issued a call for speakers that yielded a great list of topics and a wide variety of presenters, which Dahlke believes enhances the quality of the programming for attendees, but still allows the Insurtech committee to focus on how the technology impacts this specific segment of the industry.

“We are obviously really excited to return to an in-person event in 2022, and we are looking forward to the networking that comes with that,” Dahlke says. “Our committee delivered a really valuable virtual event last year, but there’s no doubt that some of the best idea sharing comes during informal conversations around conference sessions and in visiting with exhibitors.”

The WSIA Insurtech Conference is open to both WSIA members and prospective members relevant to the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines space. Please save the date for March 20-23, 2022 and watch for registration to open by mid-January 2022.
