Orion180 expanded into the Georgia market. This expansion closely trails the company’s entrance into the Tennessee market in September. Orion180 is Orion180 is headquartered in Florida and also operates in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi.
O’Connor Insurance announced that long-time senior account manager Rusty Weber was recently recognized for his contributions in the insurance industry. Weber was honored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors for his 25 consecutive years of successfully maintaining the certified insurance counselor (CIC) designation. The CIC Program, which is nationally recognized for its premier continuing education, is part of the nonprofit Society of CIC.
Jupiter launched Jupiter Promise, a program to make its services available at little to no cost to underserved countries and communities suffering from the effects of climate change. Focusing on countries and communities with per capita income in the bottom quartile of the global population, the Jupiter Promise will help these countries and communities understand and quantify their risks, inform their strategies to adapt to climate change and protect the most vulnerable. In this far-reaching initiative, Jupiter plans to reach more than 20% of the world’s population, partnering with at least 20 additional NGOs by the end of 2023.
DOXA Insurance Holdings partnered with Greg May and Bryan May, two senior-level underwriters with more than 20 years of experience in the excess casualty space. The partnership includes the launch of a new MGA: May Specialty Underwriters. May Specialty Underwriters will be an excess liability underwriting organization primarily focused on commercial construction and real estate.
International Forum of Terrorism Risk (Re)Insurance Pools provided a platform for young thought leaders to showcase their ideas, observations and insights into major terrorism issues through the launch of the Growing Thought Leadership Award. The award is open to undergraduate and post-graduate students worldwide aged between 18-30 years and will be awarded to the best original paper presenting an observational study or investigative research on one of the six terrorism-related topics listed below:
- Cyberterrorism
- Bioterrorism
- Pandemic insurance
- Pooling risks: Are there opportunities to expand this insurance model?
- Climate change: From an insurance or a terrorism threat perspective
- Parametric insurance: A potential solution for difficult to insure risks
Hub International Limited acquired the assets of Thibeaux Insurance Group, LLC. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Thibeaux Insurance Group is a family-owned insurance company specializing in commercial and personal insurance, including home, auto and life. Dailey Thibeaux, owner, and the Thibeaux Insurance Group team will join Hub Gulf South.
