Cannabis is now legal in 36 states, several territories and the District of Columbia. The recreational use of cannabis is recognized in 18 states plus the District of Columbia. In addition, retail sales of recreational marijuana are expected to start in New Jersey as early 2022, and there is an expectation that states will see more arrests for driving under the influence of that drug.
