The Fortune 500 — an honor synonymous with business success, as Fortune puts it — is back this year with the 67th edition. The 500 corporations on the 2021 list collectively generate $13.8 trillion in revenue, representing approximately two-thirds of the U.S. economy. Twenty-six of those companies this year operate in the property & casualty insurance space — on par with the 2020 ranking. Fortune compiles its list by ranking companies based on total revenues for their respective fiscal years. The ranking includes companies incorporated in the U.S. and operating in the U.S. that file financial statements with a government agency. Private companies not filing with a government agency and companies incorporated outside the U.S. and U.S. companies consolidated by other companies are excluded from the list. Of the P&C companies featured in the 2021 Fortune 500, 10 are also listed on the 2021 Fortune Global 500, which ranks the largest corporations worldwide. To discover which P&C companies made the 2021 Fortune 500, click through the above slideshow that also features each company's revenue, profits, and workforce size for the last fiscal year.
