Individual perceptions of good driving versus bad can vary from person to person, but even more so by location with regional differences at hand. But city driving compared to the slower pace of the countryside isn't what ultimately makes a good driver or a bad one. It all comes down to safety and numbers. In its 5th annual nationwide study, QuoteWizard analyzed over 2 million insurance quotes from its drivers to see which states had the best and worst drivers. The company's ranking is based on a composite score between four driving incident factors — accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs and citations — and the rate of occurrence between them. Breaking down each category, the majority of the worst states for drunk driving fall in the Midwest, with the exclusion of #5 Alaska. The states with the most citations are also in this region and the South. Factoring in population density, it's not a surprise that the majority of the most accident-prone states are located in the Northeast. The states that cumulatively scored best in these four categories, however, represent a more well-rounded national scope. In the slideshow above, discover which states have the best drivers in 2020, ranked by QuoteWizard. Related: |
