Milliman awards 17 scholarships through its Opportunity program
Since it began in 2017, the Opportunity Scholarship program has awarded 61 scholarships.
Classes may have moved online for the upcoming academic year, but tuitions haven’t changed a bit.
For 17 deserving students, actuarial and consulting firm Milliman, Inc. is helping to lighten the financial burden of higher education through its annual Opportunity Scholarship program.
Now in its fourth year, Milliman says its Opportunity Scholarship program aims to assist students from ethnic groups and races that are under-represented in the fields of actuarial science, data science, computer science, economics, programming, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or finance.
Milliman has named this year’s Opportunity Scholarship recipients, who include 17 students from colleges across the United States, Australia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Company representatives say the recipients “have demonstrated academic excellence and plan to pursue a career in actuarial science or related fields.”
“We are pleased to support these outstanding students and recognize their accomplishments to date,” Steve White, CEO of Milliman, said in a statement. “Our professions will benefit from their diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Our hope is that this financial support will be a small step on their path to future success and leadership.”
