Like nearly every facet of life, the work of WSIA's Emerging Issues & Innovations Committee has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The committee, tasked with identifying and evaluating information about emerging trends and innovations, has been busier than anticipated due to the pandemic's effect on a number of trends that committee volunteers monitor.
Committee members regularly collaborate to publish Trend Reports on emerging impacts for the industry. Member volunteers work in teams to tackle research on identified topics and draft white papers that summarize what the trend is about and its impact on the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. The papers include research-based summaries of the resulting implications, threats, and opportunities for the industry. There are currently 19 Trend Reports available on the WSIA website on a variety of these topics. The papers include an infographic overview that provides a visual summary of the trend, as well as a more detailed written document, and members can download any of the components.
