The global COVID-19 health crisis has illuminated the need for economies to strengthen health care systems and promote well-being. To support the projects aimed at improving such areas of society, Fundación MAPFRE (MAPFRE Foundation) has launched a new edition of its research grant program.

The Foundation’s Ignacio H. Larramendi research grants will award a total of 240,000 euros (approx. $283,000) to promote projects related to health, such as obesity prevention, encouraging physical activity, assessing personal injury, health care management, and clinical safety.

The program will award individual grants of up to 30,000 euros (approx. $35,000) each to researchers and research teams in both the academic and professional world that wish to develop research programs independently or within the universities, hospitals, companies, or research centers.

This year, the call for entries places a particular emphasis on projects that incorporate aspects related to COVID-19, including reducing infections, self-care, and the culture of self-protection.

The deadline for applications is October 30, 2020, and projects can be submitted in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Click here to learn more about the award and how to enter.
