The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1 and concludes on November 30, although Mother Nature knows no-bounds to a calendar. Early seasonal outlooks called for "above-average" storm activity in 2020, but early into the season, weather experts upgraded their already threatening forecasts calling for an "extremely active" season with 10 to 15 named storms. Already, 2020 has become the first Atlantic hurricane season on record in which nine tropical storms formed before August and 13 formed before September, according to the National Hurricane Center. Moving into September, the Atlantic has made it over the hump hitting the half-way mark for the 2020 hurricane season.
