On Thursday (Aug. 20), a California appellate panel stayed an order that would have forced Uber and Lyft to recognize contract workers as 'employees.' Now, the ride-hailing companies can continue to operate without re-classifying drivers until the companies can complete their appeals. However, the legal battle between gig economy companies and their workers is far from over.
