A global pandemic may seem like the opportune moment for governments to press pause on the enforcement date of data privacy laws, but that isn't the case for all jurisdictions. Risk managers were already struggling with growing data privacy regulations before COVID-19. Just in the U.S., the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) instituted a new list of concerns for insurers and insured businesses, as they navigate new waters to stay compliant. As new data privacy laws are set to go into effect, some countries are acknowledging the pandemic's business disruption by extending deadlines, while others have said the original deadlines remain.
