July Fourth usually marks the peak of summer. It's a fun, festive holiday characterized by crowded cookouts and bombastic fireworks displays. Usually. In this era of the new coronavirus, however, Independence Day may lose some of its luster as many large, public fireworks shows are cancelled and some beaches and pools are closed due to a fresh resurgence in COVID-19 infection rates. Social distancing is tough, but on a holiday? Ugh. The National Safety Council (NSC) acknowledged in a recent article that social distancing isn't always easy, especially in the context of 2020's heightened anxieties around germs, crowds, and current events. With individual, family, colleague and worker wellness in mind, the NSC recently showcased the expert tips highlighted in the slideshow above — courtesy of Ball State University Associate Chair and Professor of Health Science Jagdish Khubchandani.
