The team that brings you National Underwriter P&C and Claims magazines each month, as well as weekday insurance-industry news at PropertyCasualty360.com, is pleased to unveil an enhanced newsletter and digital channel aimed at providing useful, topical technology-driven trends and insights for our readers.

What was our "Carrier Innovations" channel and newsletter have been rebranded as the "InsurTech Center" on PropertyCasualty360 and the "InsurTech Insider" weekly newsletter. This renewed focus and updated packaging will allow us to expand on the pressing technology issues facing insurance carriers and the many other professionals in their business ecosystem.

"We needed to make this change to better serve our readers across the insurance industry," says Insurance and Tax Group Editor-in-Chief Rosalie Donlon. "The term 'insurance technology' now cuts across all segments of the industry, with substantial overlap, and the importance of good technology is the umbrella that covers all aspects of selling and servicing an insurance policy, especially when it comes to customer service."

Rising to reader demand

In the years since we started covering the impact of technology on the P&C insurance industry, the space has experienced a digital sea change: No longer is the discussion simply about how insurance carriers can best use technology to service employees and clients, nor are legacy insurers the only players in the InsurTech field. Digital insurance providers as well as innovative technology startups and vendors are now revolutionizing how risk is covered and managed.

We also know that the idea of "digital disruption" can sometimes be misleading in insurance — a highly-regulated field where human capital and institutional knowledge go a long way.

Our new InsurTech Center will illuminate the way P&C industry players are modernizing operations and business models to further lasting relationships with insureds who have come to expect fast, convenient, 24/7 service from every business they patronize. It will include articles and commentaries that explore how innovative solutions are changing the business landscape and enabling insurance carriers, executives, agents, brokers, actuaries, risk managers and underwriters to thrive in the Digital Age.

If there's one thing most everyone can agree on, it's that 2020 has been an unprecedented year characterized by a dramatic and largely unforeseen "black swan event" (courtesy of COVID-19). Some of this change has been jarring and uncomfortable. But updating our insurance technology news coverage so that it fully reflects the impact of modernization on the industry is one change that we at PropertyCasualy360.com and its print predecessors enthusiastically embrace — particularly in light of increased digital adoption spurred by the pandemic.
