To assist clients through the pandemic’s challenges, many insurance companies are offering specialized resources and online centers. At Willis Towers Watson, the recent formation of its Strategic Solutions Group (SSG) within its FINEX global practice and Mergers & Acquisitions Group will provide specialized risk services and insights to distressed organizations globally.

The timing of SSG’s formation is a response to the unprecedented risks and market volatility companies are facing during COVID-19. According to a release, SSG will deliver expertise on the insurance and claims issues organizations face before, during, and after restructuring or declaring bankruptcy.

“Developing a task force around distressed organizational risk demonstrates our commitment to companies facing financial hardship,” Ken Ross, head of FINEX North America, Willis Towers Watson, said in a statement. “Corporate restructuring entails unique risks and exposures to organizations and their directors and officers. Addressing those exposures requires a breadth and depth of expertise that we bring through the professionals on this newly formed team.”

The group will be led by veteran management liability risk and product specialists Rob Yellen and John Orr and will include M&A specialists, tax experts, claims specialists and more.
