AIG appoints Jon Hancock CEO, international general insurance

Hancock will serve on the general insurance executive leadership team and join the company in the spring.

American International Group Inc. (AIG) appointed Jon Hancock CEO, international general insurance. He will serve on the general insurance executive leadership team and join the company in the spring.

In his new role, Hancock will report to Peter Zaffino, president and global chief operating officer at AIG, and CEO, general insurance.

“Jon is a seasoned executive and industry leader recognized for his track record of underwriting excellence and delivering strong financial results,” Zaffino said in a statement. “Jon’s deep technical expertise and significant international operating experience ideally qualify him for this important leadership role.”

Since 2016, Hancock served as director of performance management at Lloyd’s, where his portfolio included responsibility for overseeing performance and risk management globally across the Lloyd’s market. Prior to Lloyd’s, he spent 26 years at Royal & Sun Alliance Group PLC in roles of increasing responsibility, including serving as managing director, U.K. commercial, global broker relationship director and CEO, Asia and the Middle East.
