MAPFRE launches award celebrating scientific excellence in insurance

The Julio Castelo Matrán International Insurance Award recognizes scientific research related to insurance and social protection.

Fundación MAPFRE has launched the tenth edition of the Julio Castelo Matrán International Insurance Award. Named in homage to Julio Castelo Matrán, former Chairman of MAPFRE from 1990 to 2001, the biyearly award strives to recognize scientific research work on matters related to insurance and social protection. The winner will be awarded 30,000 euros (approximately $32,500)

To qualify for the award, an individual or institution must have conducted scientific research that led to the expansion of insurance activities in society, and contributed to economic stability and solidarity with insurance and/or social protection. The work must be unpublished or published within the last three years and also must have the potential for application in other countries or regions.

The deadline for applications is June 30, 2020, and documentation can be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Click here to learn more about the award and how to enter.
