The ongoing consumer adoration of SUVs continued in 2019, according to auto-industry watchers. However, consumers also are increasingly interested in fuel-efficient vehicles, as proven by Tesla's ongoing popularity as well as increased interest in electric cars from traditional automakers. The slideshow above reveals the top-selling electric cars in 2020, according to InsideEVs.com, a news site that monitors and promotes such high-efficiency automobiles. Electric vehicles (EVs) also are growing in popularity because their options have expanded and because EV charging stations are becoming increasingly common along U.S. highways and byways. It helps that insurance for electric vehicles has begun to come down as more auto shops are becoming trained and accustomed to servicing them. As for EV purchase timing, as winter comes on, their sales heat up: InsideEVs.com says December is statistically the most popular month of the year for electronic vehicle sales followed by September and then November.
