WSIA names Wendy Houser to board of directors

Houser currently serves as Markel Corporation's regional president for the mid-South.

Wendy Houser has been appointed to the WSIA board of directors. She was appointed by the board of directors to fill the remaining term for Matthew Scott, who passed away in January 2019.

She also currently serves as an instructor at WSIA’s Advanced E&S Program and serves on the WSIA Events Committee. She was the 2012 recipient of the Dana Roehrig Award for outstanding community service.

Houser currently serves as Markel Corporation’s regional president for the mid-South and is responsible for the region’s underwriting and marketing teams and their premium growth and profitability. She has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, including 11 years as a broker prior to joining Markel in 2008, where she has served in a variety of underwriting and marketing roles.

“We are pleased Wendy has agreed to join the WSIA board of directors,” Joel Cavaness, WSIA president, and Risk Placement Services president, said in a statement. “She brings a wide scope of industry knowledge and is well-respected in the insurance community. She has been a dedicated association volunteer, and we believe her experience and insights will be of great benefit to the board and our members.”
