Assurance hired Chris Pappas as vice president for the employee benefits practice. He will use his background in both property & casualty and employee benefits to create strategies focused on prevention and claim resolution.

Song Kim has been appointed senior vice president, construction at CNA. Kim joined CNA in November 2016 as Orange County and San Diego branch manager.

Fred C. Church Insurance announced that Ian Lonsdale joined the company as an employee benefits client executive. Over the past eight years, Lonsdale has worked for a variety of brokerages across Greater Boston and Washington D.C., including such companies as Marsh & McLennan Agency, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and Lockton Companies.

Larry D. Deiter has been selected as board president for the National Insurance Producer Registry. He is the director of the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation Division of Insurance.

Shelter Insurance Companies announced the following actions taken by the Shelter Mutual Insurance board of directors:

Risa Ryan has joined QBE North America as senior vice president, analytics. Before this, she spent most of her career at Munich Re America, most recently as its head of strategy and analysis.

The Hartford appointed Susan Spivak Bernstein as a senior investor relations officer. Most recently, Spivak Bernstein held investor relations roles with Argo Group International Holdings and Alterra Capital Holdings.

Jack Sennott has been appointed CEO and president at CapSpecialty Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alleghany Corporation. He previously served as Alleghany Corporation’s senior vice president and chief financial officer since 2013.

EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants announced the hiring of Jon WilliamsTJ Rosenberg and Dale Smith to lead the awareness & communications practice as managing directors within EPIC Risk Consulting. They all join EPIC from Protiviti, where they had similar client consulting responsibilities and worked together closely.

Taryn Rosu has been hired by SterlingRisk Insurance as senior program underwriter. Rosu comes to SterlingRisk from Distinguished Programs, which she joined in 1999.

CNA appointed Jose Ramon Gonzalez executive vice president and general counsel. Prior to joining CNA, Gonzalez served as chief legal officer for QBE North America, leading all legal, compliance, corporate governance and regulatory affairs for QBE’s U.S. operations.

Everest Insurance International announced the addition of Martin Leeks to its Lloyd’s Syndicate 2786 as a medical malpractice and multinational/specialty underwriter. He most recently served as head of casualty — U.K. & southern Europe at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.
