In light of the 2019 RIMS Conference, FM Global offered RIMS-goers a chance to tour their premier research campus located in the remote town of Chepachet, Rhode Island, 70 miles outside of of Boston and far from any tourist destinations.
The FM Global Research Campus sits on an isolated 1,600 acres of forest. Its location was chosen for a reason. The secluded campus was designed and developed to conduct all kinds of property risk tests including fire, earthquake, wind and factory explosions.
The purpose and mission of FM Global's research campus is to prevent physical threats from turning into real-life catastrophes. Through hands-on research testing, FM Global researchers and scientists are able to visualize and study the elements of catastrophic events by analyzing their risks in a safe, controlled environment. The research allows FM Global to provide safe building solutions and safety precautions to their clients with hopes of creating more resilient structures, products and communities.
