People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: May 17, 2019

Max Koonce has been named chief claims officer for Sedgwick‘s casualty division. Prior to joining Sedgwick in 2015, he served as senior director of risk management for Walmart Stores Inc., the nation’s largest private sector employer, and as president of its wholly-owned third-party administrator.

Instanda, a provider of a cloud-based, digital ecosystem for property & casaulty insurance, announced that Euan King has joined the company’s management team as executive vice president of business development. He has nearly 40 years of experience in technology and software supporting the P&C insurance industry in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., continental Europe and South Africa.

Tiffany Bertolini was elected by the Pacific Interstate Insurance Brokers‘ (PIIB) board of directors to serve as the future president and CEO, following current President and CEO Larry Manning’s retirement on Dec. 31, 2020. Bertolini currently serves as PIIB’s vice president.

Chubb appointed Karine Paul and Brigitte Vorrath as global client executives. Paul was most recently major accounts director, France. Brigitte, an attorney, joined Chubb in 2009 as major accounts manager.

Kathleen Brown-Hurtado has been appointed vice president of specialty programs and will be spearheading the cannabis insurance division of International Excess. She previously served as a commercial producer/broker at USG Insurance Services Inc.

Guy Carpenter & Company LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has announced a series of hires:

Andrew Wood has been appointed Midwest regional executive in the U.S. at Hiscox. Before joining Hiscox, he served as chief administrative officer and executive vice president of retail operations at Insureon.

Liberty Mutual appointed Marc Orloff to lead field distribution for global risk solutions, which focuses on core property & casualty lines for mid- to large businesses, as well as specialty, excess and reinsurance. Prior to his new role, Orloff was general manager for Liberty Mutual’s national insurance casualty and middle market – Northeast operation.

Ted Lieberman has been appointed to the role of production underwriter by workers’ compensation specialist The MEMIC Group. Before this, he worked in underwriting at Zurich North America in Philadelphia and on the agency side at Hugh Wood Inc. and Insurance Office of America.

AMERISAFE Inc., a specialty provider of workers’ compensation insurance focused on high hazard industries, hired Andrew McCray to serve as its new executive vice president and chief underwriting officer. Prior to joining AMERISAFE, he was senior director – global P&C strategy and product innovation for Assurant.

Donna A. Belvedere has joined CorRisk Solutions to lead their professional liability team. Her previous position was with Chubb Limited, where she served as assistant vice president and senior program manager for their Westchester Programs.
