For places like California and Japan, 2018 was a historically devastating year for natural disasters and extreme weather. In Aon's recently released annual Weather, Climate & Catastrophe Insight Report, researchers summarize the year and evaluate the impact of global natural disaster events in an effort to identify trends, manage volatility and enhance resilience. The Aon report puts the total cost of economic losses from natural disasters at $225 billion in 2018, and the total insured loss cost at $90 billion.
