Global Excess Partners (GEP), a specialty insurance organization with full binding authority on behalf of international and domestic insurance markets, has promoted Brendan Cook to vice president and managing director. Cook joined GEP in July 2017 as vice president and head of middle market underwriting operation.
Sean McVicker has been promoted to division leader, brokerage casualty at XS Brokers. He joined the company three years as a casualty broker.
The International Insurance Society has announced Karen Clark, president and CEO of Karen Clark & Company, as the 2019 recipient of the John S. Bickley Founder’s Award. She is recognized as the creator of the first catastrophe model and is credited with inventing the catastrophe modeling industry which changed the way reinsurers and insurers understand and manage catastrophe risk.
Rick Pagnani has been hired as executive vice president to lead the launch of PIMCO‘s property & casualty insurance-linked securities (ILS) business. Prior to joining PIMCO, Pagnani was the CEO of Mt. Logan Re where he launched the third-party ILS investment business of Everest Reinsurance.

Ed Porter has joined Smart Harbor as chief revenue officer. Prior to joining Smart Harbor, Porter led the advancement and creation of multiple sales channels for Guest Supply, a Sysco company.
Risk modeling and analytics firm RMS has appointed Cihan Biyikoglu to executive vice president of product. Most recently, Biyikoglu served as the vice president of product management at Databricks, an analytics platform leveraging Apache Spark, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Mathew Stordy has been appointed senior director of commercial insurance for LexisNexis Risk Solutions. Prior to joining LexisNexis in 2009, he worked extensively in the insurance software industry focused on policy administration systems, quoting applications and business intelligence solutions.
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty has named Hugo Reyes senior underwriter, general aviation for North America. He began his career with the U.S. Aviation Group as a claims representative.
Gwinnett County, Ga.-based InsuranceHub has named Lee LeBaigue vice president of technology. LeBaigue originally joined InsuranceHub in 2011 with a background in SEO and business management.
Guy Carpenter & Company LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has announced the formation of a new Global Capital Solutions Group and a series of new leadership appointments related to the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc acquisition. These appointments will become effective upon closing of the transaction, which remains subject to the receipt of certain antitrust and financial regulatory approvals:
- Ed Hochberg - head of the Global Capital Solutions practice
- Keith Harrison - head of London North America for Guy Carpenter
- Jeremy Fox - chairman of Guy Carpenter Asia Pacific
