Rihanna's mega hit "Umbrella" boomed through the Conference Center at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas recently as a smiling Jay Weintraub marked the opening of InsureTech Connect 2018. Weintraub had good reason to smile. Three years ago, what was a quaint insurance technology convention has since quadrupled in size and attendance. This year's keynote speakers, workshops and exhibit hall drew roughly 6,000 attendees from insurance carriers, technology providers, claims organizations and other industry vendors. In total, the crowd represented 55 countries. Weintraub said professionals and most notably industry leaders are making InsureTech Connect a priority not just because of the industry's pressing modernization challenges, but also because of the essential role that insurance plays in people's lives. "We are so proud to be a place where an industry focused on serving others comes together," he said. What follows is a smattering of the topics that dominated conversations and presentations during InsureTech Connct 2018.
